Looking at one of these. Either Wildtrak or Platinum spec. A year old or so.

Will be used to regularly tow 3.5T trailers; carrying horses, straw and machines. I was put off the previous gen 2.0’s as I tried one and it didn’t have much pull even without a trailer on.

Anyone used one to tow? And I’m assuming too soon to know if more reliable than the 2.0 blocks of the previous gen?

We’ve got one at work for towing a three ton digger or three ton dumper with a plant trailer-also pull large cable drum trailers with it,
I’ve used it a few times, drives lovely, pulls very well in my opinion.
It’s a “Rampage” version whatever that means-big wheels and body kit?…
Although when it was about a year old , the engine started rattling, went into Ford, needed a brand new engine under warranty-took about three months to get sorted

Run a 74 plate Wildtrack 3.0 on the farm, apart from the modern warnings/assisting things it's brilliant. On standard tyres it's been some impressive places well off road, goes well and tows heavy trailers just as well. Done 10k and touch wood no issues, compared to all.otger pick you we've had I'd stick with the Ford, 3.0 definitely the better engine, dealer demo was the 2.0? Was a bit underwhelming on power but v6 is great

I’ve got a 23 plate v6 Ranger, 40k miles to date and has been great.

Tows a fully loaded 3.5t PRG prosporter comfortably at high motorway speeds.

Fuel is a bit crap… I average 24mpg and that’s down to 18 when towing at a brisk pace.

Watch out for spare wheel thieves, buggers had mine away from under the bed

I had a previous gen Ranger with the 2.0 BiTurbo. Thought it drive very well, plenty of power but the EcoBlue wetbelt scenario worried me. Once it started playing up with DPF regens and contaminating it's own oil despite 100 miles of motorway use every week I got utterly sick of it and got shot of it.

Recently had the new 3.0 V6 MS-RT for a few days. Engine was great, but the ride was absolutely appalling. Not sure if it was due to the MS-RT suspension pack, but there is no way I could live with it.

Thank you for the responses. On the whole it sounds positive, so going to go for a test drive
