I moved some interesting stuff over the years .
Ships pistons and controls, radar trailers. Aircraft engines and things like that .
The most unusual was a clutch for a navy frigate .
About 8ft in diameter ,several driven plates of a fibrous type material and a couple of metal plates plus a clutch cover all mounted in a transport frame . It filled the back of a lwb dropside transit .
Collected from Cranfield institute of Engineering where it had been balanced
Loaded via overhead gantry.
I delivered direct to the ship in Southampton. It was from a South American country .
The rear superstructur and deck had been removed
It was lifted via crane and lowered directly into the hull
I was told the job would take months and had cost over £1m
