Defender Hard Top
Discussion
I have one along side my van. Mainly used for towing it beats the van and as I’ve got the 90 it’s quite a bit shorter than a truck with a trailer. Regarding pricing when I leased mine it was cheaper than leasing a ranger/hilux. Rear space isn’t great for any amount of tools (110 would be better) but depending on what you do that may not matter.
I can probably answer this from two sides here.
I'm a used commercial dealer, so not only do I sell these in 110/90 Varient, we also run a 90 Commercial, 90 Car, 110 Commercial and 110 Car.
As a commercial, the 90 is great as a way to avoid the company car tax associated with the more luxury cars, but you don't get a huge cargo bay. If you need space, the 110 is the one to go for.
Spec wise, high spec from standard, there aren't many low spec Defenders out there. Just avoid the 2 litre engine at all costs.
PM me if you want to know any specifics, happy to advise/give you ideas on what can work for you.

I bought a Defender 90 Hardtop in 2022 after an 18 month wait and absolutely love it. It’s a fantastic thing to own and drive , I do quite a bit of towing with it and it’s just a lovely place to be. I think they get under your skin. However as someone else mentioned , it really isn’t the biggest car in the world on the inside , despite being pretty big outside. Load space in the back is limited (but not tiny) and despite having the jump seat, in reality it’s only a 2 seater.
I’ve also got an Amarok which is far more practical , 2 seats in the back for the kids plus far more load space. It’s nice to drive but not as nice as the Defender.
In my opinion the Defender is definitely worth the extra over a truck but depending on your needs it can be a heart over head purchase.
