Diagnosing an ex-military lorry - where do I start?
Discussion
Hi
Short story - I am looking for a forum or community similar to Pistonheads but for lorries or military trucks, aiming to find someone who could come and get started a 70s ex-military Renault 7-ton truck.
Long story - I am a Ukrainian living in the UK, and since the break of the War with russia, I have been sending some pick-up trucks to a military unit back in Ukraine.
A friend of a friend is willing to donate their Renault TRM 4000 4x4 ex-French military 7-ton truck, here it is (it is the actual truck on this picture: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Renault_TR...
Before accepting this gift, I must understand whether it runs or, if it does not, how much it would cost to bring it to a bare-minimal operational state. The challenge is that it has been parked since the COVID days, and its batteries are dead. The batteries cost 2X£300 and I dont want to buy them just to find out that actually the rest of the car is dead. Therefore I am looking for someone who could come over to Maidstone in Kent and get this thing running + do a very basic diagnostics of the truck.
Any relevant contacts, forums, and community links are appreciated. Thanks!
