Due to an ongoing insurance claim I will keep this as vague as possible so no company names etc.

Unfortunately while stationary at some traffic lights a HGV decided to change lanes and drove into me (at a very low speed)

The haulage firm are now claiming I was at fault which is annoying as the driver at the time admitted fault and was very civil.

Does anyone know what this is in the middle of the windscreen? I can see a satnav on the drivers side and am hoping this is a dash cam, as the footage would prove he was at fault.

Thanks in advance

Looks like an AHD camera set up. Will have a built in DVR system recording 24/7.

Could just be the sensor for the many systems trucks have now, but Unfortunately even if it is a camera I doubt they’ll give you the footage if they have seen he’s at fault and are trying to play the blame you game.

In that it looks like a relatively new TGX I'd second it just being the camera for the driver assistance systems unfortunately.

The forward facing cameras we use on our trucks (as part of a 360 degree recording system) are about the size of your thumb and sit on a little podium either centre (or just off centre) of the dash or hung in front of the sun visors.

Most certainly is the lane guidance system. We have them on coaches where the seat will vibrate if you so much as go over the line without indicating for a split second.
Yep, or our Iveco’s that make a loud noise if you go over the line, or close to the line, or the tarmac has a slight colour change, or just because it feels like it laugh
And the ‘safety’ brake system which likes put on the anchors at bridge shadows….

Just doing a DFMEA on AEBS with the brakes design team at a UK truck manufacturer. Some interesting failure modes to consider.
