Sprinters - Old or Newer For Reliability ?
Discussion
I'm looking to buy a MWB to turn into a camper but with a garage for my bikes, budget for the base van is £8k
Whilst I prefer the look of the 2014+ am I better off with an older one for reliability ?
Currently I'm running an 07 V6 Vito and other than the odd sensor its been great for 7 years
I don't want adblue / injector / Turbo etc issues
Also I'm struggling to find any 3.0 is the smaller engine good enough ?
I'd consider a Crafter or possibly Iveco if there's a good reason but Sprinters have a good resale and I've owned them before

We have about 25 at our depot, 64, 15 and 20 plates.
the older ones are on 300000-400000kms and have had very little in the way of problems. The previous generation 2006 models didn't fare so well. They were sent for scrap at 9 years old and around 250k I remember numerous problems with the suspension on the one i drove for a while

They are all reliable , it’s the bodywork you inevitably have to look out for as they inevitably start out as being fleet owned the LWB version especially . Sadly we have an epidemic of halfwits incapable of driving a 4.3mtr Van
and subsequent repairs aren’t often to the highest quality . This eventually shows in corrosion breaking through a year or so further down the line .

I had a Mercedes 307 for years as a courier van (when there was money to be made). Fantastic van. Never let me down, apart from the thrust release bearing seizing (but I still managed to do all my multi drops. If you know you know. )
Had a newer Sprinter and it was nicer to drive but a bit fragile and just got worse every iteration, much like their cars.
