Best automatic transmission in a pickup

My daughter is looking for a new (to her) pickup. She's got about £20k cash to spend so probably about 5 years oldish. She wants a automatic though so it's narrowing her options. As per the title, which manufacturers have the best auto boxes?
I'm not an expert on pick ups but if the drivetrain in the Mercedes is the ubiquitus 2.2 diesel mated to the 7 speed torque convertor then I'd choose that. I run it in different applications and it's very solid.Robotron70 said:
Don’t think you’ll find an X class for £20k, the current Navara is the same under the skin and is available for £20k.
The Amarok has the sweet VAG dsg box which is tried and trusted, that’d be my choice.
I don’t think you’ll find an X class at all, they only built about 3….The Amarok has the sweet VAG dsg box which is tried and trusted, that’d be my choice.

At £23k once the VAT has been added, I felt it was a bit expensive but it's the spec she wants and she's happy. Pretty sure she could have got a new one for that not too long ago but there again, I remember when all this was just fields.
