Is the Transit Custom Sport still available to buy brand new? It doesn't appear on Ford's website anymore in the build configurator, and neither does the 185PS engine option. Base, Trend, Limited, Trail and Active seems to be the only specs showing.

Hopefully in a position to buy one in the new year after 18 months of delays so will be slightly miffed if they've done away with it!

Isn’t the new Custom/VW Transporter fry up built on the Turkish production line due out soon? Could this be why you’re seeing limited options?

That’s quite some way off, the current T6.1 is being built right up until 2023, maybe longer.

I did wonder if the new Custom/Transporter mashup was the reason, but isn't due for at least another year, plus the Active and Trail models have only recently been released so you'd think they'd hold off on new models if they're planning on winding down production.

Does seem odd if they have done away with the Sport though. The new Active and Trail editions don't match it for spec which is the main reason I was going for the Sport.

Picked up my new Sport on Wednesday. Had noticed they aren't on the configurator any more and mentioned it to the salesman. He said Ford aren't currently taking orders for them.

My guess is there is a huge backlog of orders for most vehicles due to covid and and a semiconductor shortage so most manufacturers are dropping models and simplifying ranges ,
If you need a van I guess it’s a case of asking what’s available and going from there!! It looks like it’s going to be a while before it’s a buyer’s market again !!

bks. Hopefully it's just a temporary thing in that case.

Happy new van though!

I do recall hearing something a while back now about Ford prioritising commercial vehicle production to clear a backlog of orders made pre-covid. I'm guessing now they're focusing on passenger cars again.

I'm now wondering if it's easier for Ford to build to Active/Trail spec than Sport using the parts that are more readily available, hence dropping the Sport from the lineup?
