So out on the roads last week I spotted a truck with what looked like a tube coming from under the 5th wheel that fed down into a fixed mounting that ran into the centre of the hub so effectively the wheel was spinning around it

Just wondering what the hell it might be?

Couldn't get a picture sadly as I was driving

Some sort of central tyre inflation shenanigans probably.

As above, usually seen on logging trucks so they can drop some air out on the muddy forest tracks.

Thanks both, very good to know - I didn't notice what he had on the back, very cool though they can do that

Some of the systems are more integrated and factory than others. Some of the aftermarket systems look like a liability, where as ( for example) the Unimog system runs through the axle and to the valve, and is far more protected.

I'm always impressed by how far off road trucks can get, the forestry tracks where I live are very steep and usually quite slippery, but HIAB equipped wagon and drags are constantly going up and down them.

Our binman recently got an impressive distance (about 75 yards) into a ploughed field before getting properly stuck.
This wasn't a result of an accident simply that he was 'turning round' rolleyes
