Need Towing Pin / Towing Eye for DAF LF (06 reg)

Mrs 48K has a new horse box which is a DAF LF (ex John Lewis delivery truck).

Two things it's missing are the handbook and the tool kit - in particular the towing eye or towing pin which is supposed to be in the tool kit. I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for - the internet says this is a "compatible" tool kit, which shows a towing eye:



However the internet also says this is the towing pin for a DAF LF :



I've had the lower grille off so I can see the holes each side where what looks like a vertical pin has to be slotted in, but am totally in the dark as to what I should be looking for on eBay or wherever.



Can anyone educate me on what parts I need, and where best to get them from ?

Find your local Daf dealer and get one from them.Reg number or chassis number should get you the right one.

Local dealer is "stumped" and has "put in a technical request to DAF". I think we've established it's not part of the tool kit, but not got any further than that. The plot thickens!

That is what you need for a DAF LF like yours. When the truck would have left the factory it will have had one in the tool kit. I would guess that it has gone missing over the years.

Try a truck breakers if you can't find one on eBay.

For reference the pin in the other photo is half of the towing pin that you get on CF's and XF's

Nice one, thanks. So presumably the tower puts a shackle around the pin and the pin slots in to one set of the pairs of holes either on the right or on the left as you look through the grille opening?

Basically yes, hopefully you won't need to use it though, they aren't that well designed or strong on an LF.

Thanks. Hopefully won't need it, but a lot of events need to see your towing eye before they'll let you in to their field to park. Although now the whether is getting better it shouldn't be an issue for the next few months.
