Do you use a CB?
Discussion
We have them, mainly for when picking our machines up from quarries. There is usually a big sign after the weighbridges telling us what channel various machine operators are on. It saves loads of time trying to hunt them down by sight!
I can confirm there is still quite a lot of chatter out and about also. I don't really use CB except for the above, or if I'm in convoy with my lads. CB is very useful though for avoiding DVSA pulls, which happen quite often with plant/lowloaders, mainly to check chains and axle loading. Time consuming and fking annoying, especially as I'm a 'green' operator.

CBs are mainly used for vehicle to vehicle communication in quarries and on sites. Some quarry operators use them to communicate with vehicles, which is illegal but neither here nor there.
Some of the older drivers insist on talking as though they are extras in Convoy. This is cringeworthy and lame beyond words. The same applies to people who regard it as a hobby: soz.
I am sure that if you used a CB transceiver or SDR and listened near to a motorway that you would hear these wallys driving past, talking 'CB ste', but I don't think that it is particularly common or widespread. I have used one for work on and off for 15yrs and I talk when I need to, as though I was talking to a person next to me.
I have used a CB on charity rallies and on car events, but it seldom works as you'd hope due to poorly installed and unsuitable equipment. Charity Rallies are usually the worse for this, with knackered old early UK FM sets fit only for the bin and ill-conceived line amplifiers.
