IVECO DAILY 7.2 TONNE anyone got one ?
Discussion
Hello,
does anyone run / use one of these.
Seems a good alternative to a 7.5t truck.
It can carry more than most 7.5t due to its smaller almost van like style.
I'm just wondering about actually running.
Is no air brakes etc plus smaller engine a good thing or will i start to miss the "real truckers" stuff like a little more toque ?
Thanks

I've got an older 3.0 6.5 one, big curtainside box so same thing really, as can up it to a 7t on the chassis plates if needed.
I like not having air brakes, it's a struggle to get the handbrake to pass mot each year tho, all parts have to come apart & be worked on & cleaned & lubed & still struggles to pass.
Engine I don't find lacking really, think it's 180bhp ok running at 10t train weight yes but at unit only & 6.5-7t it's fine.
I would like a nice 6 pot rumble vs the small van like 4 pot it has but it does cope OK. I don't think it's any better on fuel than a regular 7. 5t tho.
For me the big advantage is can run with a trailer on & as long as trailer & truck not fully loaded can be driven on a non class 1 licence 8.25t limit, only cost £20 I think to down rate it with dvla, without that is a regular 10t train weight on the 6.5 pos more on the 7.2
