Evening all. I am in the market for a medium sized van that will be used for a 60 mile day commute and to lug around gear while undertaking a self build house. Thinking of looking at a 2015 Vivaro SWB this weekend. 50k miles but no SH as it was company owned and the company have since gone bust. MOT history stacks up with miles and van looks clean. Anyone have any experience of these with the new 1.6 engine? Or recommend alternatives? Transit seem to be higher priced and Transporters even more so. Budget is around £8k.

Many Thanks.

I have a 64 plate 1.6 sportive. 32k miles

Been faultless. Engine and drive is similar to the old one but the engine doesn’t have the same rusty injector issue like the outgoing 1.9

Nice interiors

I didn’t look to see where you are but if it’s London then you need to make sure it is euro 6.
Mine is euro 5 but from late ‘16 they got adblue which went euro6.

The only issue with mine has been a sliding door that has never shut flush with the rest of the body. Seems to be 3-5mm out. Probably just mine. Others look fine.

Good motors but see if you can get a better deal. I got mine valued at the dealer at 5.5k plus vat as a trade in.

4 years old now.
30k miles
Full vauxhall service history.
Black sportive. 125bhp

Decided to keep it instead.

Thanks for the reply. Looking around, £8k seems to be a pretty good price for the low miles and year. I think the dealer is trying it on with your PX valuation considering the spec and miles of your van it should be worth more than that.

The van I’m looking at is not AdBlue but I’m in North East and no congestion charges here as of yet!

Other than the door alignment is there anything else to really look out for other than the usual checks you would do on any used van?

I was thinking of getting an independent inspection done from the likes of clickamechanic for £100 for extra piece of mind.

They’re reliable so as long as it’s got full service history you should be fine. It’s cheap to service anyway. Tyres can sting a bit but they cost the same as other vans out there. I’ve not heard any horror stories
I did fit a tow bar on mine and have had loads of people reverse into mine and leaving a tow bar dent in their bumper biggrin

I think you will be ok with the single turbo model i had the bi turbo model and had nothing but trouble with it.
After i had four turbos put on it and 26000 miles later i got rid of it.

I think when they “euro 6’d” them they went up 5 bhp, so 125 for a twin and 120 for a single.

The old twins were 120 though, so be careful that you get a euro 6 120 rather than an older euro 5 twin turbo 120.

They seem to have increased in price since I got mine 18 months ago. £2.5k more for that one, almost £2k more for a base spec and a year less warranty, only 3 now, otherwise i would have said to look into the difference to a new one with 3 years with no mot and hopefully fixed for free if a problem, plus new premium tyres etc.
