I have a feeling that they may have a weird axle ratio due to the towing..

Best to check.

Transit customs are FWD so I wouldn't have thought the ratios are any different...

I'd have one, Im surprised the miles are as low as they are to be honest, and You would have thought they would be very well maintained!

You are taking a big gamble with a transit with 100k ,the company I work with has the biggest fleet of vans In the Uk ,so can only pass on what the fitters I speak with tell me ,they usually sel them at 100 k as don’t last much longer ,the 2.2 engine is not to bad in my area 8 vans 3 engines have been replaced under warranty around 65k ,Euro 6 vans are very temperamental,a good model is the sprinter around 2010 seem strong even with 150k , I have a new custom and has been returned twice idle shaft replace and something with the fuel pump ,early service light and exhaust cleaning mode long gone my merc 210 never a problem ,drove all over Europe .

A friend of friend was a AA man. A bit of history. When the AA had a fleet of Vauxhall pick ups, i think they were Izuzu's built in Luton. The weight of the tools and equipment was too much and a bodge was made on the suspension. When they had VW Transporters the base model was ordered and it too couldn't take the weight so they were overloaded. This was changed after the first 500 were delivered. The Renault Trafic's had an extra spring in the rear suspension for weight and towing. He said he wouldn't buy one because although well maintained they had high miles and were always on or over max weight.
