I was there over a weekend and all the truck stops, service areas and road side ‘aires’ were full to capacity with trucks, half the trucks in Europe must be in Germany.
It’s a sign of Germany’s industrial dominance in the EU and it is clear to see.I drove in the UK for 15 years and the sheer number of trucks left me in a weird kind of admiration for the Germans.

I don't think they are allowed to drive on a Sunday - France has this rule so the services and Truck stops are usually full.

It’s both a sign of Germany’s manufacturing dominance in Europe and a sign that a lot of traffic from other parts of Europe has to come through Germany to get to the exporting ports in Holland. I can see the Autobahn from my office window, pretty much non stop trucks.

Yes, they aren’t allowed to drive on Sundays (exceptions for pre-authorised loads).

One of the problems of "social dumping " lots of east European trucks that don't go home now have to park in areas with facilities at weekends or risk large fines plus the restrictions of movement in Europe.
