Been driving vans for over 5 years and have driven a car in France, but never been abroad in a van. I believe I'm being thrown on the Eurotunnel to Calais and the route from there looks like heading through Belgium and straight into Germany around Cologne.

Any top tips or pointers from your past experiences? I know that the Germans and French are quite strict about having warning triangles and hi-vis etc...

Watch the speed limits , all the usual stuff , if you wear spectacles you need to carry a spare pair .
I would check on needing to keep a logbook of hrs as I have a feeling it's required in Germany at least .

The direct route Calais to Cologne goes round Brussels ring road ,that'll be very congested unless you

are driving in the middle of the night.

Ghent could be slow too ,the Belgians and the Germans can do traffic jams just as good as the British.

You'll enter Germany around Aachen BTW.....probably.

As above really.
Also keep good safe distances in Germany.
Pull out well before overtaking a vehicle and go a good distance in front of said vehicle before pulling back in.

Enjoy.
