Ebay starter motors

We have a P reg Daf 45 130 whose starter motor is going. Sounds like the solenoid to me. Our mobile mechanic says his supplier cant get the starter motor. ( Looking online a few suppluers only do 2001 onwards).

Whats the quality like on new ebay ones that sell for around £150 as we thought of getting one and have him fit it unwarranted by him?

I think you have a Cummins 6BT in that lorry which, IIRC, over a million were made.

Quality is pot luck, even our DAF main dealer supplies pattern parts for the older vehicles. You should be able to buy a Prestolite one which would at least give you a branded item.

Those were tbe ones we were looking at.
Like you say, at least it's branded and has a warranty that it works on the bench.
