Absolutely fine going forward, bit of a bugger to reverse them. Good luck with the job , glad to hear you finally got the DVLA thing sorted out.

Cheers, only an assessment tomorrow but fingers crossed.
Reversing is a f***ing nightmare until you get the hang of it which can take forever. Some combos let you connect the tow-pin on the front bumper of the wagon and a red-line suzie socket at the bumper to the A-frame and reverse the trailer where it's needed. Much much easier.
A handy trick to unload the 2 vehicles simultaneously if they only have back doors is to jack-knife reverse until the drag trailer and it's A-frame end up to the side of the "wagon's" rear. Do it right and the 2 vehicles will still be pointing in the same direction in a staggered pattern.
That might impress your assessor!

Thanks bigwheel.
I have a friend who started at this firm 2 months back and he echos your points exactly, so it looks like I'll be fine going forward but am going to be the new kid in school with the reversing. He said it will annoy the hell out of me to begin with, but it slowly gets easier.
It seems like the job is all drop box work and they split front and rear at main hub, to either tip on bay or leave in yard for shunters to sort later.

There can be various ways to operate demountable boxes in depots.I have a friend who started at this firm 2 months back and he echos your points exactly, so it looks like I'll be fine going forward but am going to be the new kid in school with the reversing. Ideal if you can split and leave the trailer-box for the shunter to get onto the bay.
A-frames aren't as popular now as caravan trailers with wagon and drag fleets in this country.
By the way, a welcome return of your vocational licence. Should have been re-instated a long time ago.
Thanks mate.
Yeah they dragged it out a bit eh, I did point this out once or twice on my claims forms that I’ve been working on
I have always wondered why the a frame is still being used over the more usual drawbar setup?
On my travels I did notice that the a frames seemed to be most popular in Germany.
