Hi all,
Would anyone be able to give me a ballpark figure please for trucking 2 items, each 6m long x 2.45m wide x 2.5m tall x5 tons, on a flatbed artic from Germany (not sure whereabouts, yet) to Lancashire? Whether I purchase the items depends on the cost of repatriation!
Additionally, will they be ok on a normal flatbed trailer or will they require a low deck trailer to clear the lower continental height limit? (4m IIRC?)

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Hi mate, I couldn't give you a price, (no idea) but it can certainly be done.

I'm pretty certain that the dimensions would fit on a standard height trailer, (but would need to check) but there are loads of hauliers running on low ride setups these days so you wouldn't have a problem finding some.

Does it have to be a flatbed trailer, would a standard curtain sider with a sliding roof not work? Just thinking of you increasing your options. I would imagine that the ideal solution would be finding a UK haulier that is delivering out that way, as your stuff could make an ideal back load for them. Better for them to make money out of a return load and you should get a better price.

Hi all, many thanks for the replies and I must apologise for never responding - very rude of me I know especially with such generous offers!
Due to some negotiating, availability of said items and also the vendor wanting the transport stands back afterwards, things have changed somewhat. I'm also at liberty to give some more information.

The new plan is to transport one item, not 2. The item in question is a commercial jet engine, moving from the DHL airfreight hub at Leipzig to Flight Engineering in Leeds, then returning the transport frame (similar dimensions but weight approx 1 tonne and a totally empty middle). Delivery time is unimportant as long as it's cheap!
Im not sure what would be more cost effective method of moving it - filling a rigid truck or trying to fill a half empty artic already doing a similar route?

Suggestions gratefully welcomed!

Thanks,
Matt

Sorry, can't help with prices but the obvious question is cannot DHL transport it in-house, or use their logistics connections to get a good price?

Can you not find a Leeds based haulier which runs in to Germany and might be looking for back loads to get them home?

Having moved the cradles around for various companies , if it has an engine on I think the regs are that you need 1mtr clear around the engine .
Most engineering bases are very pedantic about aero engine regs .

Freightex maybe a good bet, they have access to a vast amount of hauliers.

I have no attachments to the company but I have used them in a previous life.
