Hello everyone!
I always fancied the US Big Rigs and just for some information I'd like to know what does it take to get there?
I've seen that some of you are or been driving in the US. Is the British or any european C+E licence valid in the US? If not how much does it cost to get it done? Anyone did Long Haul driving?
Ps: Am I mad that I'm thinking about it?
Any reply much appreciated

Not all it's cracked up to be nowadays , too much electronic wizardry on the trucks . Unless you're married to a US citizen the chance of getting a green card are practically zero although I've heard of people managing to work the harvest season . Best option would be to work for a Canadian company who specialize in cross border trucking , Bison or Challenger for example .
I worked on a farm in Ohio for 11 months and drove an old R model Mack a little bit locally, then went back for 18 months, most of which was on a harvest crew operating from southern OK to literally on the Canadian boarder.
We all got put through are Class A CDL which was a piece of cake so we could pull the combines on trailers which were an oversized load. 4 x new 1997 Pete' 377 with 12.7 Detroits and Allison 6sp autos and an old International with 855 cummins and a '96 378 with 3406E.
The driving was dead easy, on wide roads with next to no traffic.
Getting a visa to be a truck driver is likely to be very difficult.
