Petrol or Diesel small van

2 factors here
1) what are you carrying in the van? Will the petrol eco boost have enough clout to carry your load.
2) and this is the big one. What legislation will be introduced regarding low emissions zones and compliance.
London will introduce much tighter rules on emissions in 2020. The LEZ becomes an ULEZ (euro6) and will expand in area.
Will your new van still comply? As the current lawmakers have no idea what to do, van and commercial owners have no idea which way to jump.
Ok you may say well that's London, but these LEZ areas will be in most major cities within 5 years,and once councils twig it's an easy way to raise money every council will want one. (One major London council will start charging more for parking a diesel soon.)
Like you I need a replacement van soon, but I don't want to get shafted in 5 years time come resale.

Thanks , yes Its for a service engineer , hand tools and some spare parts , refig gas etc say about 300 kg
we always had petrol vans when I was an aprentice back in the 80's I would say most smaller vans and pick ups were petrol
I quite like the idea of a ecoboost 100 hp, but less torque than the 1.5 diesel so I guess revs not lugging it down would be how you
would need to drive it so it might be a bit thirsty ??
but If the anti diesel parking , city bans tolls etc comes to pass then at least we have an option
and if petrol is the thing to have then a tidy 3 year old petrol van might be nice at resale time ...
