First time query
Discussion
I've just completed my first week driving commercially on LGV.
I was running close to my first break and my tachograph flashed break 1 warning. By the time I parked up it had frozen on break 1. It took a few mins to change mode to rest, then I took my 45 mins. Tacho was showing 4 hours 15 when it froze. Is other work added to this driving time etc? Can that take you over the regulated hours?
What's the outcome re driving hours?
Thanks.

It flashes at 4h 15 min .
The best advice is to plan to take breaks after 4hrs as running close to the limit will lead to mistakes. Getting caught by the truck police (Vosa) can be costly if you have infringements .
Don't forget working time directive ,breaks have to be taken after 6 hrs of duty ,driving and other work combined .
Vosa also like to see your card inserted for about 15mins before you start driving at the start of the shift ,vehicle checks etc .
Keeping some time in reserve is always prudent .
If you press the down facing arrow on the big round button on the tacho unit it will tell you the driving time used in the current session.
When having a break go a couple of minutes over just to make sure the unit has registered enough time .
All this should be in your notes from your CPC training .
Good luck .

Might I suggest getting a copy of the Haynes Truckers Guide, usually available from Amazon etc .
Full of useful information including loads of truckstops and cafes etc .
The only thing not covered by most guides is double manning and tacho use ,but if you don't do it it's not worth worrying about .
