So I really need to beef up the security on my Movano. I want to get it sign written but dare not until it's more secure...

I will be fitting deadlocks and also an alarm. I have just won a fog cannon on eBay which is designed for classrooms and the like.

I also will be putting a strobe light in the back so that while an alarm is going off the van is filled with fog and a strobe.

I would put these both on a switch so once the alarm is disarmed I can leave them off for the day in case I set the alarm off by mistake.

You may wonder why the overkill but it is a mobile workshop and easily walkable about in. There is also 10s of thousands of pounds worth in there.

The only other thing I worry about is the windows at the front but I don't know what can be done about these! There is a bulkhead!

The front windows can be covered with a clear security film on the inside, similar to window tint film, but thicker.

Loom guard plates to the rear doors will help to protect the door locking wires.

You can fit a solenoid in the supply line from the tank to the engine which will cut the fuel off whilst the alarm is armed/going off.

Ideally the more discreet looking the security is, the better. Heavy locks over all of the doors will scream out 'rob me'

In an accident, this suddenly becomes a really stupid idea!

I never said it was a good idea, I just offered a security solution as the OP requested...
Up to them to decide after reading up about the product.

If you are this worried look at tool insurance or make sure the van policy/ your liability insurance offers cover.

I thought a lot of vans were robbed during the day, while the user was working away and out of sight/attention for a minute or three?

Not at all, All rally cars have this fitted, its designed to stop the windows shattering on impact, you can still get out if you need to, All rally cars all carry a window hammer so if push comes to shove you hammer the window and just fold the glass down.... The film doesnt stop the glass from breaking but does stop it from shattering everywhere

But from the other way round?

Front-end impact, neither front door'll open, and you're unconscious?

The whole point of the film is to STOP people breaking the window to get in from the outside, right...? If it doesn't do that, it's not much cop as security film - if it just stops it shattering, then all it does is save you a bit of hoovering after somebody's nicked your stuff.

Smoke machine and strobe? All you need is some big speakers and a bag of Es and you are sorted for a good party.
How about a paging alarm, or one with a gsm communicator on it to alery you realtime if someone is trying to get in. Some of them have a speaker and mic so you can listen in, determine if its an actual break in of just a false alarm and you can speak to them, try and warn them off.

It is easy to be a know-it-all on the internet, as you demonstrate so well; but ill-advised unless you know what you are talking about, which you seldom do.

Thanks for such a cogent and thorough explanation of exactly why security film on the inside of windows will stop people getting in when you don't want them to, but won't stop them getting in when you do want them to.

I'm much obliged, and so much better informed. A lesser man than you might not have been able to resist an opportunity for some cheap personal jibe instead of actually explaining anything.

Be quiet you clown. Is there a thread on PH that you haven't posted your 'informed' opinion on?
