HGV class 1 driving in Spain
Discussion
You should be fine, but I haven't been for 2 years now so may be worth double checking on trucknetuk.com on the Euro forum threads.
When I was going regular there was a ban in the Basque region from 10pm Saturday night, through to 10pm Sunday night iirc, (could have been midnight-midnight?) My brain isn't what it was. The cut off area was pretty much anywhere to the east of Vitoria Gasteiz up to the border at Irun. Run that route during the ban, and if stopped by the redcaps, (police) you'd pick up a very hefty fine. If you are coming out of Santander you would be fine running across the AP8 to Bilbao, and then heading south on the AP68 towards Vitoria, Logrono, Zaragoza etc. At Zaragoza you can jump on the AP23 and head down to Turuel, Valencia and onto Murcia.
You could also come out of Santander and take the route towards Burgos, Madrid, Albacete and onto Murcia that way.
All depends what way you fancy, but both keep you on the right side of the ban area. You will have had plenty of rest period on the ferry so you could drive off the ferry and do a full shift if you wanted. Plenty of cracking places to stop on all the routes in Spain, good truckstops, hotel/restaraunts, bars, etc. All at the side of the road. The neon lit "clubs" of a nightime are interesting places. HTH.
Enjoy, i'm very jealous, Spain was always my favorite country to go when I could drive the wagons.

Chili are you still on for Stage Truck? Think I was following you and 2 others down the A66 and A1 last night?
