Any others that do continental journeys realise that the charge we put on visiting lorries coming over here is not enough .
I did a trip last week to near Nuremburg and just the motorway tolls in Belgium and Germany came to nearly £100 !
The Belgian toll started on the 1st of April which can be done via a smart box .
Unless you have a factory fitted one for Germany it has to be done via pre pay ,must be done at the nearest available point before joining the motorway and you must use the declared route and exit at the declared junction.
I am glad I don't venture over the other side that often .
Those taking anything commercial over 3.5t to cicuits over there should check before travelling.
The fine in Germany for transgressions is €175 .

Its been 2 years now since i last when, and tbh i really don't miss many parts of it now.
I hear the Belgium system is currently causing chaos and you are right it is definitely worth making sure you have all the correct tax for each country you're going to be travelling in. Get it wrong, and you could def be hit with some big fines.
It always made me laugh quite how many different toll boxes we used to carry in the trucks when i was on the tours, they used to fill up the top locker smile

It's not like many countries where you can progress without having to use motorway routes ,those with the new tolls all have weight and time restrictions off the motorways .
The evening meal in the Autohoff was better than anything I have had in a services in the UK ever .
We still lag way behind most of the continental countries .
.1000+ miles of motoring with only 4 miles of roadworks, not something that happens in this country .

I always thought that the German Autohofs were by far the best truckstops in Europe, great food, great shops, great facilities and great prices. Even the Autobahn services are very good, but the Autohofs are in a league of their own. Most are excellent. It was always worth diving off the autobahn and doing the short distance to the nearby hofs.

€10 to park for the night of which we got €9 in vouchers for our meal .
Clean odour free toilets and fantastic showers all 1km off the Autobahn.

Just to clarify - the new Belgian system is ONLY applicable if the TOWING vehicle has a MGW of more than 3.5 tonnes - so if you're towing your track car through Belgium you should be fine.

yes

Re the Autohofs, most used to be free for parking, but they all started getting fed up with the large influx of a lot of eastie beasties that were using the parking facilities for days on end, but not spending a cent in the restaraunt, shops etc, hence the changes. Wise move IMHO smile I remember the portions in some were bloody huge, and real good quality grub.

Most tolls in Europe only apply to commercial vehicles over 3.5t .
It would be worth checking if converted motorhomes ETC are effected .
In Germany the Euro emissions ratings and number of axels decide the rate charged .
So older multi axel rigs tend to get hammered financially.
