Truckers and Airbrushing
Discussion
Driving to work each morning I see a line of neatly airbrushed trucks waiting for ferries. Great artistic skill no doubt and I wish I could draw more than anything with angles but I'm curious why truckers feel the need to do this?
Went past a 'Die Hard' liveried one this morning with "Welcome to the party pal" right across the front. Horses for courses obviously but very curious to see what history (if any) evolved into this.

Just a way of putting their stamp on their truck.
A friend of my dads owns this;
His only truck and it's used every day for general duties, believe it or not! Think it used to be done in James bond airbrushing. he changes it up every few years and wins alot of shows.

I admire the work some people have done, and good to see people having pride in their kit.
Just annoys me when some companies pay fortunes tarting their fleet up but then pay peanuts as wages, and yet the lure of a big flashy truck to drive will still appeal to some people.
I'd rather just have a clean and tidy wagon with better wages thanks.
Horses for courses I guess.

Yes its all about showing off and taking a pride, a truck is a very big canvas, and a very big advert for your company, no better way to get it noticed than with a bit of air brushing and mods.
You either 'get it' or you don't.
This one is my favourite.....
........but hey, im biased.
Its air brushed by a fella called Adam Haden, worth checking out his Facebook page 'Adam Haden Airbrushad' if you get a few minutes to spare.

20-25K wouldn't be unusual for jobs like them. worked with a guy who travelled country to country just to paint trucks, big show scene, some are extremely well done and most are actually 'brushed' not stickerd up vinyl, cool stuff
There was a discussion on Trucknet about the costs of airbrushing and one of the best truck airbrushers in the industry came on and said most jobs are £3-4k and even a full cab and chassis paint wouldn't top £10k. A lot cheaper than i thought. Edited by ya_bks on Thursday 10th September 23:08

I work in euros, and I'd be shocked if that includes the trailer because we get that for a decent sized car re-spray,
if he'll do that for 3-4grand then fair play is all I'll say, lad I knew romo travelled most of Europe, do a job every month and move on, making nice money too, its some cool st airbrushing. used to go to truckshows in punchestown, just to see quality paint,
im sure the average job is quite a lot less but start adding marble-effect/flip-colours,pearls/metal-flake etc.. my point was some spend big bucks.. like anything can have a little or a lot,
3-grand wouldn't buy a truck&trailer's-worth of custom paint for example

He was talking about his typical jobs which were back of cab jobs, side of cab jobs. Remember he only does the airbrushing, the chassis, cab paint etc is done elsewhere normally.

Sounds like J Davison from out Manchester ways latest FH16. (Same fleet as the 007 themed R730 ^) - A very tidy fleet for a scrap metal merchant! They run an equally tidy V3 FH16 with a Terminator themed livery too (Custom interior too with a shotgun mounted inside the drivers door!)
ETA -
Stanian Transport are another notable fleet of highly customised wagons too -
Always nice to see operators and drivers who take pride in their kit and theres some amazing rigs out there I've seen on the road and at shows over the years. Off the top of my head Joe Sharp, Daltons and David G Davies run some particularly impressively airbrush liveried motors too...

pretty pointless post but I thought I would point out the cost of paintwork on a truck.
This was about four weeks ago.
