As title; I'm looking for a suitable one for my ELWB Mk 7 Transit campervan - it's not got rear windows so reversing's a bit of a pain.

Ideally I'd like a twin camera setup which gives a rear view as well as the area immediately behind the van for reversing manoeuvres. I've not found much advice when I've Googled it.

Part of the problem is the doors extend up to the roof so there's nowhere to fix a camera kit to the rear. It'd have to be a roof-mounted system and I've not found one with twin cameras so far. If not, does anyone have a recommendation for a good roof-mounted single camera (ie reversing only)?

Thanks in advance

I fitted one to our transit custom in work. I fitted it under thor plastic trim that holds the lights about the number plate. I aimed is to look at the tow bar just to make hooking up to trailers easier, but I'm sure with a wider lens camera it would look backwards aswell.

China is full to bursting with reversing cameras which fit to and around your registration plate. Cheaper than a commercial reversing camera, but not a deal less durable in my experience.

A start:

Meh, look at the Waeco range if you want something decent.

Thanks for the comments. Are the ones from China delivered in reasonable time?

TBH there are so many companies out there flogging them it's a bit confusing, and opinions vary from 'cheap is fine' to 'you get what you pay for'

The factory fitted camera on my mk7 is great for reversing & hooking up a trailer, shame you can't use it as a rear view (only comes on in reverse )

Probably just triggered off the reverse switch on the gearbox or the reverse light. I suspect it would be a trivial task to feed it from a switch instead!

It must be controlled through the BCM as it stays on for several seconds after you take it out of reverse, you can't just alter the wiring on modern stuff, the computer says NO

It could also be a delay switch/capacitor that keeps it on for a few seconds after the feed from the reverse gets cut
