Hey all , ive seen some jobs recently and needing a change one that sounded right up my street was trainee train driver, one thing before i apply that a friend mentioned was that can i apply being red green and blue purple colour blind ? traffic lights etc do not pose problems for me as a regular car driver. any thoughts or advice. it does seem like a good job and good pay . Its something i had never thought about until i saw the vacancies and thought that was the challenge i need at age 46 and looking at the investment they put into the training etc i would happily repay that investment with hard graft and long term commitment.

If you can not pass the ishara colour blindness test you have no chance of being a train driver as that is part of the medical.

I don't think you can get any job that involves going anywhere near the track if your colourblind.
Was certainly the case when I looked into getting into the track work about 15 years ago.

I thought as much. i have never passed a colorblind test in my life and had plenty throughout my school days. i know for a fact if given one of those tests with the dots i would never get through . thanks for the advice and replies. will cross that career of my list.

It's not just about coloured signal lights sometimes coloured flags are used.
