Two of our vehicles have been invaded this year , two people caught in jan (cost the driver £1600 in fines) and another three caught a couple of weeks ago. This despite TIR cords on the curtain sides.
Now the guys returning via this port are banned from stopping within 50 kms
of the ferry terminal.
I am so glad I no longer do Europe.

Grumpy they really are upping their game, there has been some nasty incidents as well.
I spent a night in calais about two weeks ago and picked up two in my empty pallet locker.
I found them at my drop, I had taken them 100 miles into France.
The trick is to have a container lock on your trailer and just be vigilant.

Our guys are issued with a kit with multiple seals ,padlocks and a curtain repair kit , they also must complete an intruder check sheet at EVERY stop whilst in Europe .
Yet the Mayor of Calais maintains we Brits don't do enough, yet our immigration and customs officers in France detect far more than the french authorities do when working in France .

That stinks tbh.

The woman on the news last week had one in her Fiat Panda. I bet she's not been fined. You would tell if someone in your car especially a small car like a Panda. Not exactly like the little bastids hiding in a trailer etc is it.

The French are worse than useless, the first was checked by the French with their equipment and allowed to proceed, Brit immigration pulled it in the lanes at the port .
They had opened up an old vent in the curtain then re-stitched it after two had entered .

There have been a few problems at the tunnel in the past, but nothing like Calais.
It seems that the french look at it as not their responsibility as the offenders are only transiting the area .
I do wonder how it would go if we ever left the EU .The freedom of movement rubbish could be fun if it ended at the channel, would it become a french problem then or would they just shut their eyes to it as they do at the present.

On the news they were showing that even not stopping doesn't help. Even at low speeds the vultures were all over the wagon trying to get in.

Came through calais yesterday afternoon.
Boarded the spirit of France which was then delayed owing to immigrants storming the boat.
On the way in they did the usual trick of sending you through the hover terminal, absolutely thousands of them there.

Video taken by a foreign driver of the diversion through the old hover terminal. Why are they doing this? It just seems to give them more opportunity to jump an a slow moving truck.

If you get to calais after 1130/1200 you will always get diverted through there.
I had some videos of it myself but unfortunately bought a galaxy note 3 , this means it has to be replaced every couple of months.

Been a while since I've been but looks like I could be going again by the end of the month, just glad it will be in a box motor with a big lockable tail lift.

I was told about that.

How TF does a full grown man hide under a Panda seat with apparently 2 dogs in the back too ?

The mayor of calais is seriously pissed off, he blames our immigration policy, they have started storming the ferries now, a brit driver was attacked and seriously beaten a month back, I'm wondering when it will end.
Trouble is though grumpy, if you speak to them all they say is ' I want the free house, free money, free health ' .
I really don't know where I stand on this, a lot just look wretched and I pity them, but they have crossed safe countries to get here, they are also making the french citizens life a misery, the French rightly or wrongly blame our immigration policy.
I'm back through there Tuesday, with a couple of exceptions ( different routes ) I have used calais at least once a week this year, it's definitely getting worse.

A visiting french politician said many years ago that what we were doing wrong was giving the immigrants money, In the rest of europe they seem to feed them clothe them and give them a bed but never give them money .
Thats why they transit 'safe' countries to come here .

Went through 4 times last wk, always a bit of a worry in present times.

My set ups are relatively easy to check for intruders but im always worried one/some will jump from another truck whilst on ferry & despite my comprehensive check I'll get clobbered at Dover, so I've taken to using the phone video.

I film the tacho hence has time & mileage etc & can see im checking at the docks, then jump out & do my checks filming it all.

If somehow I do have em on board at Dover I can prove I've done my best & was clear of 'em at dover.

Coming back from Spa last week it was shocking, they were almost trying to slow you down on the approach road and get on the open trailer.

there must have been 300 to 400 just outside the dock entrance.

This week's trip through calais was fun.
Immigrants throwing themselves in front of the truck, flagging me down, right I'm going to stop.
The police lined the Last half a mile with riot shields, must be costing a fortune, even saw women and young children amongst them.
