Most of you surely must have seen the topic in the legal section on here about 'Is Elephant racing legal' blah blah blah......
Now given the attitude of the general motorist towards what we do, its quite clear to see in the thread, why do people bother replying to these muppets, there gonna think were in the wrong no matter what replies us 'professionals' put.
So why bother?
(should add ive just added a reply to the topic, for no other reason than to annoy one of them)

I used to reply but don't bother as much anymore as you're banging your head against a brick wall with some of them!
I hate elephant racers as much as anybody else, but all the divs on here who say stuff like, 'put it all on the railway, or ban trucks from peak times, and so on, and on are normally on these topics uneducated fools!
Let's face it most of them don't know what they're talking about and as a friend says, 'you can't put brains in a coconut!'
I think we should all be banned from the roads for a week, let's get our lorries off the roads!!!!
How long would it take for the same idiots to be screaming that what 'they' needed wasn't in the shops/petrol pumps and the like!

I find threads like that amusing. Some posters get so stressed about spending 30 seconds of their lives behing a slow moving truck.
Although I am not a commercial driver, several of my friends are. Here in Oz I would say 90% of truck drivers are sensible and courteous, which is a much higher percentage than car drivers. Unfortunately, the 0.1% of real idiots are the ones people remember, and then they go "all truckers are idiots".
If you are transporting racing elephants to an event in your HGV, and running late, is it permissible to overtake the HGV transporting your opposition's elephant?

Only my opinion here but sadly I think that lorry driving standards have gone down somewhat in the uk in the last few years I'm not certain why, but maybe the large influx of foreign drivers now working for uk firms could be part of the reason.
It's a shame, but no different in most of Europe and beyond with what I have seen from my own experience.
Luckily the idiots do still seem to be the minority but you are right, these are the ones that get remembered.
I am willing to bet that most of those whinging about truck drivers are the ones causing the real congestion on the road systems with their inconsiderate driving of late exits , lack of indication, inability to drive at a constant speed, tailgating and all the traits shown by those that think they are gods gift to the motoring world but in reality drove at their best when they passed the driving test and progressed down hill ever since .
Many have had no further driving education or testing , many are amazed at the hoops we have to go through just to remain legal and stay on the road.
