Sprinter 903 316CDI - questions / help required
Discussion
Chaps,
Wonder if anyone might be able to help?
About four weeks ago, I bought a motorhome on the above chassis. Once up and running the thing is awesome but there have been a huge amount of niggles which I'm slowly getting through but need some help in the last couple and wonder if they're either specific to Sprinters or anyone has had any experience themselves....?
- rubbing / creaking noise from near side. Originally thought to be corroded rotors. Replaced discs and pads front and rear. Initially better, but noise still evident. Evidently the n/s caliper was seized, this was stripped but noise still there. Noise gets worse the warmer the vehicle gets but sound only evident when doing <30mph.
- seem to get a reasonable amount of diesel fumes in the cab. Doesn't appear to be coming in through the vents, so seems to be blowing back when window is open (don't have aircon).
- notchy and difficult to engage first and second gear since having had clutch and DMF replaced.
- when releasing the clutch or indeed engaging it when coming to a halt, there's a spring pinging or metallic clatter sound, occasionally.
So far I had original work done (clutch, DMF, rear discs and pads) done by local Merc Indy but didn't ultimate rate them due to missing the seized front caliper, which was spotted and rectified by the motorhome place. But although the motorhome place is competent, they're not Merc specialists, so keen on getting an idea from you guys where I should get them to look whether any of this is usual Sprinter stuff.
For info, the cab is LHD and has done 90k km (c 56k miles).
Thanks in advance!
