Weird-looking truck...

Forgive my ignorance!

I saw a Scania truck today - an HGV-type tractor unit. It wasn't a cab-over but had a proper near-horizontal bonnet.

It had 3 axles and behind the cab was a big box that looked just like a van-body. It was the same length as the chassis of the truck, had no rear overhang and was the same height as the top of the cab.

Any idea what it would be for?

It will be for heavy haulage; presumably the box is a sleeper cab as outsize loads often travel very slowly so long distance will take days and require stopping during the day to avoid commuters firebombing the rig.

But it couldn't pull anything, the back body covered the 5th wheel?

Maybe a hobby/show vehicle or just for drawbar work to pull a fairground ride for instance??

Google Scania T cab. Pretty rare over here because of the length issues, most seem to have the V8 with tacks up the back of the cab. They sound great, for a Scania...

Used to transport various road laying and civil engineering equipment, I believe it actually is purpose built for a specific duty but also doubles up as transport and can pull a drawbar trailer carrying JCBs and various other plant implements

Very very nice fleet

No problem, as soon as I read it I thought I'm fairly sure its Nicol of Skene's T cab, Ive never seen another like it.
