i reach the dissy hight of 45 next year, hard to believe I know but i am almost that old.

So to keep my HGV/LGV entitlement Im going to need a medical ( great another one as i need one for the msa/fia licence then too)

whats the process do the dvla sent anything out that I have to return, or do I have to remember and find the form get it done and send it off.

and at what point do i have to have the medical before or after my 45th birthday, and if i forget and do it after do i loose everything or do I just loose the entitlement till i get the medical sorted?

cheers

56 days before your driving licence runs out, you’ll receive 2 forms from DVLA:

an ‘application for renewal of lorry and bus entitlement’ (D47P)
a ‘medical examination report’ form (D4)

If you don't receive the reminder you can order one off of the divla website and you just lose your entitlement until you complete the medical if you forget, then have it reinstated once you've done it.

One of our drivers *accidently forgot for 6 months and didn't realise until the office asked for a copy of his license, as soon as he had the medical done they sent his license through.

  • Think he had a recent heart attack or something and was on medication.

If you spend more than about £50 for the LGV medical then consider yourself truly ripped off

I found a medical centre in Leicester that does them for £40 so search around
