Well i am thinking the Commercial Break section needs a similar thread to the

one in Classic cars for the old trucks n stuff you might spot left to die in the

corners of yards and in fields etc.

I did check all 12 pages to make sure there wasn't already one going.

These 2 coaches have probably been seen by many here as they are in a field by the sliproad

for the northbound A23 at Burgess Hill.

Recabbed and re-engined with an AEC lump - not sure if it's still there either - it was a snowplough originally IIRC

if that spitfire bonnet isn't rusted to death, then grab a hold and put on ebay, there worth a pretty penny as you can't get hold of them.

everyones going for fibreglass replacements, but the fit is naff.

Actually spitfire bonnets are available new at £1200.

But you are right £200 should be easy if it is decent

It was a snowplough in Aberdeenshire when new. Was unstoppable apparently. There was a feature in Aberdeen Press and Journal a few years ago, in the Wednesday "Your Cars" section. Could be more info on it out there.

Edit - have just found this pic. Although it's not actually the same truck it would have been part of the same fleet.

My grandfather drove for the council for 40ish years, can't remember the exact figure.Anyway,he drove one of these and his main route in the winter was the A9 north from Brora to the top of the Ord of Caithness while on the gritters.Must ask him if he remembers any registrations.
