Do you ever pull over to let traffic past?
Discussion
I got the ferry into Cairnryan yesterday, we arrived in at 1800hrs, I had 128 miles ahead of me. It's normally a fking horrible drive, I'm sure a few of you will know the section between Cairnryan/Stranraer and Glasgow. Slow, twisty, uphill, downhill, just a crap drive, ten times worse if they decide to let the lorries off first.
Anyway, something happened I've never seen before. Some guy in a 2004 Dublin lorry actually pulled over to allow traffic past. He was about ten vehicles in front of me, there were about five behind me, he pulled back on to the road after we went past.
So, if you drive a 2004 Dublin-registered lorry and this was you, top work chap. Do any of you do this?

Quite a lot, yes.
If I had done this, It would only ever be on those types which are not visible from any other road and tend to be a lot quieter than your average on ramp.. *cough*
If I were in the habit of driving like Miss Tesco and sticking to the ridiculous speed limit applied to HGVs on single carriageways and noticed a queue of cars behind me then yes, I would pull over.
As it is, I try to give anyone behind me every chance I can to overtake; getting as far over to the left on a nice long straight, or doing the same when exiting a roundabout where the road's nice and wide and my (lack of) acceleration makes it easier.
Every little helps.

If I'm going to a new job and I'm not sure where it is and see other traffic behind, cars and other lorries and there is a roundabout ahead. I'll go once round the roundabout to let the traffic go ahead. Then I can piss about looking for my destination without getting in anyones way.

You've never been to Stranraer or Cairnryan, have you? The speed limit is just a dream number on a sign, on some uphill sections the lorries are pushing hard if they're doing 25mph, same story downhill with all the turns.
