This is a very very very rare occurance, as much as you lot are a pain in the arse snail racing when you have two lanes at your disposal, how on earth would you put yourself in this position ?

It was raining (obviously), and I was only doing 50 mph .... thank fook, as I had to drop to 20, if I'd gunned it from the speed limit change I'd have been in all sorts of trouble .

top marks on staying calm, did you not flash your lights, beep the horn or similar?
both lorries on sidelights only, and both appear to be from the same company.
i could only assume that, "maybe" they both had c.b radios, and for whatever reason, the second lorry needed to be infront of the first, to show him the way or something....
or
they were arsing around, (i hope not.)

whatever the reason, looked a pretty dumb and dangerous move in my opinion.

I was already on dipped beam lights , no point in flashing high beam, definately no point in sounding my horn to two oncoming HGV's, they aint going to hear it, I was ready to go up the verge of course, as it is the only way I'd survive if the offsiding lorry didn't move.

It seemed a tad shocking to me, as I'm dead if we hit head on, driving a large car I'm used to being on at least equal terms in presence.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I saw that, cars, vans, yes but again not often, motorcyclists all the bleeding time, and cyclists around town frequently, but lorrys ........... they don't normally do things like that , I'm used to being stuck behind them rather than avoiding them !

If felt a bit closer than the video appears, but obviously wasn't, and they are approaching the end of a long straight, not at the start of one .

like you say, it is fortunately rare that you see this from lorry drivers.
it was a shocking move though.

I was coming off the A13 at the witches hat roundabout and hessitated for 1 second. Enough for a bulk tipper to get the corner of his cab into a small gap and push in from the other lane. All he had to do was signal and I would have probably let the rude fker in anyway.

Another question here. This morning I saw a petrol tanker eight feet behind a car on the M4, I kid you not eight feet gap doing 56mph. Why?

Maybe you will get lucky and that very driver might post and answer you.
I would patiently wait.

My guess is because he couldn't do it at 60 mph.

No excuses for that.

Reminds me of driving the A6 to Buxton, avoiding the suicidal tipper drivers.

Erm.. welcome to the EU, we are part of the continent. I see almost as many foriegn registered motors on the road as uk and even quite a few of them dont have british drivers. Cheap monkey aim lorry and all that.

What an utterly stupid and offensive question.

Has it not occurred to you that you are putting the question to the very people who are more likely to be killed or injured by bad lorry drivers?

That's Poland. Perfectly normal driving there. It's not unusual to see 2 lorries snail racing, and then a 3rd lorry will try to overtake - crests of hills, blind bends, they don't care. The 3rd lorry will be a Russian.

Having said that, and considering the variable standard of driving, I've not seen very many accidents.

One positive is that slower vehicles often move over to let faster vehicles go past, something which rarely happens in the UK. smile

If my cruise control is set at the max 56mph and another lorry starts to slowly creep by me then I'll knock of the cruise and slow up a couple of notches to let the faster vehicle go by quicker. Then once he's clear I'll bang it up to 56 again. Makes no odds to me to let the faster vehicles go on their way.

As regards the tanker doing 56 .that is flat out generaly so if you catch a car doing 57 do you pull out way back and hold up other drivers for longer ? or has the car driver doing 55 just started to speed up as he got with in range of passing it it not ALWAYS the lorrydrivers bad driving but inconciderate car drivers !!!!

Whether it's a dinky Transit or a Scania 6x4, there's always something that makes me give tipper drivers a wide berth. hehe
