It would be infinitely more enjoyable, and productive, than the completely pointless waste of time that was my first day of driver cpc today.

Who comes up with this ste? Are they having the biggest laugh, seeing just how fking ridiculous, and impertinent the legislation they create can be?

Apparently last Saturday the CPC lecturer chap turned up at my work but the utterly

incompetent manager had TOTALLY forgotten about it and obviously hadn't told any of the drivers

either.rolleyes

I still cant figure out who these courses are aimed at, the way that they have been structured concludes that they can only be a money making exercise. If they were of any use then I would be all for them, however the information that they are providing is of a standard that anyone who has done the job for more that 6 months will find these of no use and almost patronising.

The current course should be on offer to new drivers as a test to pass to obtain their license, which is in theory what they are. This is a very good thing and I wish that they did something to this extreme for a car license.

To make anyone who already has a license do this is beyond a pointless exercise. The fact that you cant fail them, that it is time and not 'module' based, and that drivers have to repeat the course at set intervals compounds the fact that it is just a money making exercise and should be hated to the same extent as the brake lobby, the bloke who invented specs cameras and any tax based on emmisions hehe

If I actually had to pay for it out of my own pocket I may have considered dumping 44 tonnes of scania outside parliment and setting fire to it.

im in a real quandry I dont use my lgv licence for work these days, just my personal car transporter so I dont need to do the cpc.

but its nice to be able to have it as a fall back. when the cpc regs come in to force I wont be able to unless I've done it..

I've been looking around to see which is the cheapest class based course and see if i can do a deal to do that course enough times to have the hours...

failing that Im also looking at what you need to provide the course hehe

ive been looking into this , im 52 yo have been driving artics since i was 22 covered europe and can tie a dolly and rope and sheet , done fridges , long loads , tankers , containers , cranes , delivered bricks and i could go om but forgot most of it , (god this alzheimers is crap)

my best mate drove busses for most of his life but went into the teaching sude a few years ago, now he provides driver training and cpc courses ,

i have asked him about this and what he is going to teach in his class , not much was his reply , but i can do a modern apprenticeship and get the cpc for £25 a module if i go to his college2-3 days a month !

so i can be an apprentice at 52 or just pay the normal price hhhmmmm
