Unlucky 'Bibby' driver
Discussion
Hi guys,
Never posted in this section before.
Just thought I'd post a topic about a crash I saw at Crossgates, Leeds. I didn't witness but I saw the aftermath...
Apparently some old dear had crossed between parked cars about 20 yards from a zebra crossing and the bibby truck unfortunately hit her and she ended up under his wheels.
The fire brigade had to use the inflatables to lift her off.
Whilst I feel really sorry for the poor woman (she survived with a leg injury) I feel equally sorry for the poor lorry driver as we all know that he will be in shock and Christ knows how the police look at it. I just think pedestrians should pay more attention and respect the fact that lorry drivers cannot stop as quick as cars.
Just thought I'd post up sorry for the randomness!

I've known a couple of drivers pack it in over the years, they had killed people, I also had a good friend that killed someone in an accident, it never bothered him, wrong choice of words but he was able to carry on with his life, strange how different people react to things.
You say killed people as in the accident was the truck drivers fault.. If you killed someone in an accident that was your own fault it would be completely different to being involved in an accident that killed someone that was not your fault.
If the latter happened to me i'd just have to crack on.

One reversed over someone in the yard, he backed onto a bay and one of the loaders jumped down because he'd dropped something, the driver reversed over him, he was cleared but was a mad tt around the yard, he jacked the job and didn't look good when seen out.
My mate had pulled out of a petrol station in Spain, he was rear ended by a fiat uno, the front passengers, 2 were killed, he hadn't pulled out on them, he was arrested and cleared by a Spanish court, he carried on with his life knowing there was no way he could of avoided the accident.
We've had two suicides, one was a motorbike who drove flat out into the back of a stationary wagon sitting in a lay-by. The other was on the M3, the bloke was standing on the hard shoulder behind his car with the hazards on like he had broken down, run straight out infront of the wagon at the last second. Both left notes. Both the drivers shugged it off and carried on, although one was ex army anyway.
It happened to me.
Not wanting to go too far into it on a public forum like this but basically I got in the way of somebody else's accident. And a motorcyclist lost his life.
Had to meet his family at the inquest, swear on the bible in the witness box the works.
I wouldn't wish it on anyone....
A week doesn't go by when I don't think about it...
The police don't do enough to support all victims IMHO.

Came so very close to it happening to me in Farnham some years ago.
I was driving along, quite happily minding my own business, when an elderly lady stumbled and fell into the path of my lorry.
Thankfully, I was already on my guard, to this day, I don't know why and had already come off the throttle and was covering the brakes when I first saw her.
By the time I'd come to a complete stop, she was out of sight, by the front bumper. I leapt out of the cab, to be met by a barrage of abuse from the car behind, who initially didn't realise what was going on! I just pointed and shouted 'help me!' to his credit, he came running!
To cut a long story short, the police and an ambulance were called and she was taken to hospital.
Never did find out what became of her.
