Greetings Fellow Big Wheeler's
Read an interesting article today about the eyesight standard changing slightly you have to be able to read 6/7.5 instead of 6/9 in your better eye on the Snellen scale from May 1st this year, also the eye test must ensure any prescribed glasses do not have lenses so strong that they effect a driver's peripheral vision

Is that unaided? I was never tested for unaided vision during my medical (back in 1998), but I seem to recall I might not have passed if I had been tested.

I would imagine its aided as you most probably would not be able to see that far down the scale without glasses if you need to wear them

From my PCV medical a couple of years back, unassisted, so long as you can see the board, you're fine.

Those figures, if the 6/7.5 is correct, are with correction if needed. Without correction you can be down to 3/60 so I think your eyesight has to be pretty awful to fail. There is a point where you could get an 01 code on your licence which means you have to wear glasses while driving.

Yes, I did a spot of research after posting, rather than more logically before posting. However, without glasses, and without cheating, I struggle to read the top line on the snellen chart.
