Reading the description, it seems his brakes failed.All those people who dive in front of HGV's at roundabouts and junctions etc and then brake hard, could do with seeing this..

AFAIK lorry brakes are very unlikely to fail, they're naturally on so any failure results in the brakes coming on does it not?

Depends on whether there are any pads or shoes left!!! and judging by the state of some of the foreign trucks and esp trailers with VOSA proibitions I've seen on my travels in various workshops for instance triaxle trailers with every pad on the metal and with drum brakes totaly worn out!!!!, we have very strict rules about maintainance, god knows what they do in places like Russia , Asia and Africa.

that was a big smash.
the driving standards out there are pretty poor in general, as youtube often proves. i've been a couple of times now on the tours, and it is a different world, i certainly change my driving style when there. we are always under an armed escort when in russia, so often will have 10 trucks in 1 convoy. i was at the back of the convoy once, we were on a single carriageway road, heading from st petersburg to the russian/finnish border, when i watched as a tanker approached from behind, fast, and then over took the whole convoy in 1 go he was certainly tramping on!!!

The driver of the truck with the failed brakes told the other trucks on the road over the CB to clear a path as he was coming through, and they did, except the minibus/van thing obviously didn't realise and kept on driving up the road.

Ouch.

Yeah, that's what I read, too.I can't make out just how many thing he hits.He seems to hit something before the van and one of the trucks on the left of the video appears to be a wagon and drag affair which he destroys!
