The founder of Stan Robinson transport based in Stafford died on Friday night at 70 having been diagnosed with the big C the day before.

His trucks always looked smart and wore 'SRS' private plates. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but understand he was a very down to earth bloke and the sort who would get his hands dirty. The fleet has 160 vehicles and 300 trailers - a bigger fleet than I thought it was.

So sad to hear that, I worked for him for ten years (April 93-April 03).
My condolances go out to his family.

Sad to hear this. When I was a spotty 20 something year old truck salesman, he gave me the time to have a chat, which many hauliers wouldn't do. (He never bought from me though!)

He was a nice bloke. Sad to see the news of his death.

He was my Mum's cousin. She speaks very fondly of him, when she broke down in Birmingham last year he organised a truck to go out and collect her partners car from the motorway. A very genuine guy according to all those who've mentioned him to me.
