so who's done this CPC rubbish then?...

Just wondering how many of the guys on here have completed this on here.
I've done two modules one first aid and one on "health and safety in logistics" which was the biggest waste of 8 hours I've ever had the misfortune to sit through.
I'm led to believe that ADR is part of the approved courses.
And although I have no need for it now i'd rather learn that than having a two hour PowerPoint presentation on "how to climb into the cab" delivered by a health and beauty lecturer (seriously)

I completed my CPC in 2009 and it didn't cost me a penny. Was on the dole and got my ADR for free, which gave me 21 hours and then used my ILA allowance from the Scottish Government to get the remaining 14 hours. The CPC got me my previous job, as the company were impressed I had it so early and they didn't have to pay for it of course.
ADR can count as DCPC hours but only if the course has DCPC approval
Those on an ADR DCPC approved course are paying probably an extra 100 on top of the ADR course fee just to have some boxes ticked towards getting a DQC - money wasted just to comply with a scheme which, for the most part, achieves nothing for the driver.
Apart from making money for Govt depts and for a few training companies I see no reason for this DCPC

I have recedently done my ADR renewal through the FTA and was told none of the syllabus counted toward the DCPC, my employer always picks up the tab for all my training so the additional cost is no problem as we have over 100 drivers that all have either LGV or PCV Licences there will be numerous training days this year for the DCPC, the most bizare thing is i can sit the same module 5 times if i want to to get the DCPC as there is no exam to pass, reports coming back from others who have already sat the courses is its the most boring and pointless exercise ever

Done the same module twice so far.I may end up doing the same module five times if the location of the course is convenient.Fortunately I'm not paying for it.
As pathetic wastes of time go, it's right up there with my several hours of ladder training I had to have at News International. The ladders were only around 4 rungs high and used purely to get paper in to the press just above your head during setting up etc.I was so proud to pass and get my certificate.

im in two minds about this i took my hgv at 19 in the army, which was cough a few years ago, as im not far from need ing the medical!!!
I dont drive for a living, but am out most weekends in my 7.5 tonner race transporter with my own car in the back.
its always nice to have the hgv as a fall back but the 30 odd hours for the dcpc is a bit steep for a hobby..
a nd it does seem like a right royal waste of time....
any thoughts
