Why has this HGV cab got a dress on?

there are pics somewhere, (can't bloody remember at mo) of said "volvo in a dress" laying on its side on a german autobahn, i believe.
think volvo were keen to keep it quiet.

Whats worse is the fact the Renault Magnum is to be withdrawn and a new truck with different cab sizes will be in its place to cover the whole range
Apparently so although the new contender does look pretty good under the wrapping

Renault Magnum
is that the chunky looking thing? Like a 70's style coolbox sat on a roller skate?I rather like a Magnum, sure got plenty of presence!
The grandaddy of super sized truck cabs too, first one to have a completely flat floor IIRC.
As for the Volvo with the "dress" on, i saw one on the A1 a couple of weeks ago! -
Supposedly their Euro 6 FH replacement

looks like volvo have finally got rid of the silly rake on the windscreen that they've had for years, which lost them so much cab space. i've always been a big fan of volvos for comfort and how they drive, but the fh's could never match a daf for living space, perhaps thats about to change.
my regular job can have us away for long periods at a time, and the daf is the best for this. i always thought if you could put the drive, comfort, and i-shift of a volvo, into dafs big cab, you'd be on a real winner.

ive owned a few volvos and always felt the same , although not daf , ive always hankered after a merc but wont due to their appalling after sales and lack of back up .looks like volvo have finally got rid of the silly rake on the windscreen that they've had for years, which lost them so much cab space. i've always been a big fan of volvos for comfort and how they drive, but the fh's could never match a daf for living space, perhaps thats about to change.

you do know its a volvo under the magnum now , im very tempted by one of those ..
i had a magnum 480 few years ago and loved it ,i could keep up with most things and pass quite a lot of so called super trucks ( scania 500 comes to mind) when i was fully loaded + running tiles from spain, the cab although big did feel a bit industrial whereas the volvo feels more homely and warm

i'd agree spike. the firm i'm doing abit for at the mo on nights, has mid roof m.a.n's and renault premiums. you do know its a volvo under the magnum now , im very tempted by one of those ..

1st time i had a go in the renault, and have to admit was really impressed with the drive. cracking auto box, good engine brake, like you say you know they are a volvo underneath
i've still to this day, not driven a magnum, but based on the premium, i'd be more than happy to try one. if i went back to tramping in the uk, the magnum would be a good tool i think. the premium in my mind, just lacks abit of space for a week a way at a time.
the firm i do the tours for only use daf, so we are sorted there, but agree with you on the merc, especially the brand new one, be interesting to have a go in the big cabbed one for a week or two.
scania look great, but i think they are overated.
tiles eh. castellon?
