I have used the jack countless times and it would always lower itself when I turned the valve counter clockwise, today it just got stuck there.And it obviously won't lower if you have axle stands holding it up.

I do not like jacking up on the sills because it damages the jack point attached to the car, it works best when I put stands there, not a jack.

Yeah as I said I have used it many many times since 2022 and have a fair bit of experience with mechanics and it was definitely malfunctioning as it had worked fine until today.Played it safe and have binned it, got a Halfords advanced one instead which is way more robust and sturdy. Got it for a good price too with my trade card. I It is huge and heavy but well worth it in my opinion, three year guarantee too..
