The Autel AP200 is a great device, costs about £50 and has lots of functionality.
You can buy cheaper generic code readers but the don't have the same capability.

You will need to define "affordable" as it would mean something different to everybody.

Affordable to me 2 years ago was £395.00

Affordable to me now would be under £100.00

You will need to let us know what you are trying to do with this reader? Loads of £20-30 ones will read all the generic codes from the engine. But if you are looking to read / clear codes from air bags and or the ABS system that is a different bit of kit you need. Like wise if you are looking to wind in the pads on a car with an electronic hand brake?

The above can be had for about £100 but are likely to be only for one manufacture, If you are looking to have this unit work on 2-3 different manufactures cars then you ae going to up your spend a bit.
