I have a 2017 Ford S-max 1.5 EcoBoost. When i turn the car on from cold it's fine. But 2mins or so later a ticking starts from the right side of the engine. The ticking disappears as soon as i press the accelerator even just a small amount. It comes back when i lift off back to idle. I've topped up the engine oil. But not tried anything else. Any ideas what is causing it please?

It could be sticky injectors making the ticking sound with the high pressure fuel. Try running it on Shell V Power for a couple of tanks and see if that helps. Lower fuel quality can cause the clogging up.

Is it a chain driven motor?
