Hardware - reputable sources?

Any recommendations on suppliers for structural grade 8.8 fasteners?

For random projects I usually use Screwfix and eBay for fasteners, but I need to get something I can absolutely trust for fitting a crash bar. OEM screws unfortunately not available, hence the need to source my own.

Also, what is the matt, slightly rough and lmost powdery feeling coating? Hot dipped zinc, or something else? Just thinking I should probably use that (stainless wasn't used OEM so I don't want to have issues with galling if I need to whizz them out again)

I have no affiliation with Fastpack, apart from being a local satisfied customer of many years. It might be worth giving them a call as they do postal service (and have an ebay store).

Use Namrick or similar reputable specialist if quality and spec is important.

Don't use stainless steel for any fastener where strength is a concern.

The fastener you're trying to match is likely to have been passivated in some way. That's typically done with plating/coating rather than galvanising since zinc is very soft and also hard to apply in a consistent thin layer.

Turned out I'd ordered from their ebay shop before and had no idea I was actually using a reputable supplier!
