I feel like this is a stupid idea but then I'm lazy and like a short cut.

I need to temporarily remove one of the rear brake calipers from my race car. Now the obvious solution here is to unload said car from the trailer, jack it up, remove the caliper, and then put it back on the trailer (and do the same again when I need to refit it). The issue with this is that my driveway is not quite long enough to get the car off the trailer and so I have to pull it onto the road to load/unload it. We live in a smallish village but the road is busy enough for this to be a pain (there is always some moron that cannot drive past a parked car/trailer and so creates a traffic jam)

So this got me thinking about whether I could just lift the rear wheel whilst the car is still on the trailer. There isn't enough space to get a trolley jack in there but there may be enough for a small scissor jack or even a motorcycle lifting platform (car only weighs 875kg).

Has anybody done this? If so did it create any issues or damage the trailer bed? My trailer has stays/supports at the rear and so I can drop these for some added stability.

I did it this way, Lenny:

Of course, after lifting it off the trailer, I supported the car with blocks of timber, while I worked:

Nice! Yup that could work. Was planning to rest it on a load of 2x4 as well.
