Bottled engine oil question
Discussion
Just out of question, let's say a synthetic engine oil has a specified interval of 2 years or 15k miles, whichever comes first. If you buy a bottle for top ups or whatever, how long would that be good for? So, if you bought enough to change the oil and had 2 litres left over (in an opened bottle) and that was kept indoors, how long until that oil shouldn't be used? For example, would it be safe to use that at the next oil change, say 18 months later (where it could then be up to 3-4 years old in total before changing).
Obviously being in a sealed bottle not exposed to heat cycles, fuel etc will mean it'd last an awful lot longer than in an engine, but just curious!
Thanks.
