Evening all. I’m going to be undertaking a clutch, flywheel and gearbox swap over the weekend. I’ve got all the parts, just need some grease for the input shaft.

I’ve seen mixed recommendations as to wether it’s necessary but the clutch kit I’m using states that a small amount should be used, so I’m going to. However it doesn’t state what kind! Looking online brings loads of results from America, ideally I’m after something I can grab off Amazon or in a UK shop.

Just grabbed some Pagid Cera-Tec grease from Euros as I was passing, says it’s for the back of brake pads to stop them squealing. Just grabbed it as I was passing and it was £3.99, so if it’s good enough then I’m sorted, if not it was only £3.99.

I know I need something that resists high temperatures but also something that won’t spread with centrifugal force and contaminate the clutch disc at 8400rpm!

Thanks in advance!

I used graphite grease on drag racing clutches for years, on the input shaft and the adjustment threads without issue. They used to spin to 11000rpm too!

A -small- amount of high temperature wheel bearing grease would do. A brush is quite handy to apply it.

Pretty much any factor will have something like https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-140355-comma-high-per...

top tip - apply it, move the friction plate to and fro along the input shaft, and remove the excess. You really don't need much, any excess globs will be thrown off and contaminate the plate.
